An exit poll by RTÉ of the Local elections has Sinn Féin 9% up 1 & from 2004 locals, Fine Gael on 34%, 6.5% ahead of 2004, while Labour jumps five and a half points to 17%.  View more


 
Sinn Féin vote increase shows momentum for change is building

Sinn Féin President Gerry Adams speaking as results come in from count centres around the country said "Sinn Féin has built upon very successful 2004 local elections and managed to increase our number of seats in many areas, some for the first time. We are on track for gains in Wicklow, Donegal, Kilkenny, Cork, Limerick, Offaly, Carlow and Roscommon. The Dublin EU constituency will go down to the wire.  View more
