DUP calls for moratorium on Irish border poll

The DUP last night called for any new referendum on the reunification of Ireland to be put on hold for at least a generation. The Rev Ian Paisley`s DUP claimed relationships across the island could be transformed if the government guaranteed no border poll for 30 years. Intensive talks may be begin at end of month

Intensive new talks on the future of the Six Counties are expected to be held in London's Lancaster House later this month, the media has claimed today. Seemingly, the British and Irish Governments are to call all sides in Belfast together for an intensive three-day negotiating session to try to restore devolution in advance of the European elections in June.  View more

THE SDLP's Alasdair McDonnell's platform piece in the Irish News of March 26th, under the headline "Only the paramilitary criminal fears police" was dismissive of whole sections of our community. Maskey to travel to Basque Country

Sinn Féin MLA for South Belfast Alex Maskey will travel to the Basque Country this weekend to attend a conference on conflict resolution, nation building and the need for multi-party talks. The conference is being organised by Batasuna and will be attended by several trade union and Church groups, including: PNV (Partido Nationalista Vasco), EA (Eusko Alkartaguna), Udalbiltza (group of elected representatives), Elkarri - a group made up of peace groups and the Churches who havesponsored round table discussions of all parties in the Basque Country, and LAB and ELA (Basque Trade Unions).  View more


 
Apprentice Boys march banned

An Apprentice Boys march along the Lower Ormeau Road in Belfast on Monday has been banned. On April 2, the Belfast Walker Club was informed by the Parades Commission that its Easter Monday Apprentice Boys parade has been banned.  View more


 
BBC muct come clean on Lily decision

West Tyrone Sinn Féin Assembly member Barry Elduff has again challenged the BBC to state publicly their policy regarding their staff wearing Easter Lilies. Mr McElduff's challenge comes after the BBC refused to comment on demands he made for the wearing of the Easter Lily to be brought into line with the wearing of the poppy.  View more
