Cory disappointed at Finucane inquiry delay

Canadian judge Peter Cory today reiterated his call for a public inquiry to be held into the murder of Belfast solicitor Pat Finucane. Speaking just days after his report into four controversial killings in the Six Counties was published, he said he was ``disappointed`` that a trial had been deemed more important than further investigations.  View more

A loyalist awaiting trial for the murder of Belfast solicitor Pat Finucane has been moved to a jail in England, it was confirmed today. Ken Barrett, who is due to stand trial in September for the shooting of Mr Finucane in his north Belfast home in February 1989, was transferred on Thursday when a report on the solicitor`s controversial killing was released by the British Government.  View more

Leaders of 1916

Continuing with our series of historical articles in the run-up to Easter, today we bring you profiles of the seven signatories of the 1916 Proclamation, a document still valued and respected by republicans throughout Ireland. These men were also leaders of the 1916 Rising, during which, the proclamation was read out to the people of Dublin from outside the GPO on O'Connell Street.
