Case against Fermanagh teacher dropped
Michelle Gildernew Sinn Féin MP for Fermanagh & South Tyrone Michelle Gildernew has demanded that the PSNI and the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), reveal the circumstances behind the malicious prosecution and detention for 8 months of a young Fermanagh teacher. Ms Gildernew's comments come after the case against Emmett Lavelle, who was arrested in a raid on his family home last year, was finally thrown out in the High Court today. View more |

Agreement review - Sinn Féin to propose new executive departments
Conor Murphy Sinn Fein Assembly group leader, Newry Armagh MLA Conor Murphy has confirmed that Sinn Féin is proposing the establishment of three new departments in the Six County Executive as part of the Review of the Agreement. Two new departments for Equality and Policing and Justice are both consistent with the Good Friday Agreement, the third a Department for Children and Young People is a long standing Sinn Féin objective and was raised as far back as the negotiations leading up to the Good Friday Agreement in 1998. Minister's shambolic policies blamed for strike
Seán Crowe Sinn Féin spokesperson on Transport Seán Crowe has slammed 26-County Transport Minister Seamus Brennan for causing a huge transport strike in Ireland today. Mr Crowe blamed the Minister's 'shambolic' and 'incoherent' Transport policy for today's strike action, which involved bus and rail workers. The strike lasted for four hours and caused widespread disruption. View more |

Four in DUP race for Europe
Ian Paisley has stepped out of the race Four members of the Democratic Unionist Party have now said they are seeking the party nomination to stand in the election to the European parliament. The latest to enter the contest is barrister Jim Allister who has indicated that he wants to return to active politics. The DUP has been forced to look for a new candidate after its leader and current MEP Ian Paisley stepped out of the race. View more |

EU candidate attacks Murphy's refusal to answer bombings questions
Pearse Doherty Sinn Féin EU candidate for the North West Pearse Doherty speaking at the 12th annual Joe McManus/Kevin Coen lecture on Saturday, attacked the decision of British Secretary of State Paul Murphy to once again refuse to provide answers in relation to the Dublin Monaghan bombings.
